thispoint aboutthetendenciesof
capitalismtoeventuallyundermine
constraintsonit, is thatEITHERyou
transcendcapitalismORcapitalism
willundermineyou(thatis,under-
minetheconstraints youbringto it,
to capital).So,we,as humansubjects
in themodernperiodwithitsunique
economic formation,aredetermined
in thesensethatwecannotconstrain

freetotranscendtheformation.That
is whereourfreedomlies.It does not
lieinestablishinga stable,perman-

deterministictendenciesofcapital
willneverpermitsuchconstraints
anything more than a temporary
status.
Therelevanceofthistothede-
batesI mentionedis thatthereis a
position(callit ultra-Left if youlike,I
don’tcareabout labels,perhapsreal

thefollowing: Becausecapitalismso
completelydominatesthepolitical
arenaanditsinstitutions,including
parliamentary politics, the latter
mustbeheldin suspicion;whatis to
besoughtis toovercomeandtran-

moredirect,means.AndI thinkthe
otherposition(callit thepositionof

thepoliticalpathtotranscendence
comesfromfirst establishingsocial

WhatI reallymeanttostressis

Yes,sure.Let’slookat thefirstfailure

there are noconceptual resources
