House and Leisure – July 2019

KRAMERVILLE

  1. AMATULI
For arts, crafts and artefacts from Africa, and
    increasingly further afield, there’s nowhere
we can spend more time than in the winding
storehouses of Amatuli. Start with a coffee at
Razor Charlie, Amatuli’s on-site café, or head
upstairs to Katy’s Palace Bar before making
your way through Amatuli’s treasure trove.

  2. BULTHAUP
    There’s a reason why bulthaup’s offerings are
referred to as ‘the Ferrari of kitchens’, and
in the brand’s showroom, you get a taste of
    the precision, engineering and technological
innovations that go into each and every one.
Be sure to open all the doors to see inside the
carefully crafted cupboards, and don’t miss
the showroom’s selection of Hans J Wegner
    chairs. 9 Kramer Rd. domum.bulthaup.com
    3. LEMON DESIGN
    The clean-lined, high-end products on
    display in Lemon Design’s showroom
stand in stark contrast to its warehouse-
style space, making visitors appreciate the
    multidisciplinary design studio’s fantastic
attention to detail even more. The showroom
    also hosts regular photographic exhibitions
    in collaboration with local photographers
    and Lemon’s on-site, large-format printing
    studio. 16 Dartfield Rd. madebylemon.co.za
    4. CORICRAFT
If you’d like a comprehensive selection of
    Coricraft’s laidback and affordable designs,
a visit to its Kramerville showroom is a
must. We also regularly host collaborative
Coricraft events here, so follow coricraft_sa
on Instagram for updates about our exciting
    partnership. 14A Kramer Rd. coricraft.co.za
    5. POLIFORM
    Cutting-edge cabinetry and seamless
styling combine in the Poliform showroom,
    where the brand’s much-loved kitchen
and cupboard designs are featured in
a holistic setting. There are lots of other
lustworthy pieces in the store as well, so
make time to browse its (beautifully made)
    shelves. 3 Desmond St. poliform.it
    6. CAESARSTONE
    Caesarstone’s first Johannesburg showroom
is a newbie on the Kramerville block, and it’s
quickly becoming one of our favourites. It
offers a rare opportunity to see Caesarstone’s
innovative products in full slab-scale size,
as well as a selection of imaginative kitchen
designs that provide a conceptual starting
point for anyone planning on redoing their
    own. 10 Desmond St. caesarstone.co.za

With some of South Africa’s most exciting creative studios

moving their headquarters to the suburb, Kramerville has

come a long way since its industrial beginnings. Here’s our
