Shop Well

for Less?

● FACTUAL / 8pm / BBC1

Steph McGovern and Alex
Jones continue their
mission to help families
change the way they shop
without changing their
lifestyle. This week they’re
in Selby, Yorkshire, to try
to help the Mountford
family. To show the family
what they’re actually
paying out, Steph and
Alex set up a pop-up shop
in the family’s house – will
their shock therapy do the
trick? HHHJP

Council House Scandal

● FACTUAL / 9pm / C4

NEW

It’s 100 years since the first
council houses were built in
Britain after World War One. Today there
are just 2 million, compared with 6 million
in 1980. With social housing at an all-time
low in the UK and thousands of families
forced to live in appalling conditions in
temporary accommodation, architect
George Clarke meets some of those who

are suffering to reveal the extent of the
crisis. Raised in a council house himself,
George is on a mission to create good-
quality social housing once again and
takes inspiration from countries that have
got it right, including Austria, which puts
our government’s social-housing policies
to shame. Compelling viewing and an
urgent call to action. HHHHHTL

Animal Babies

● WILDLIFE / 9pm / BBC2

Learning to push against boundaries is
an essential part of development for any
infant, but one little monkey in Sri Lanka
is testing his troop’s patience. Five-month-
old toque macaque Jazir is the highest-
ranking baby in his troop of 34. But when
he begins to wield his power and steal food
from other babies, he gets a slap in the face

from another monkey and his mum
has to step in. Meanwhile, in Uganda,
eight-month-old mountain gorilla
Nyakabara has to learn the skills to climb
sky-high treetops and find food. But her
mum has been over-protective ever since
Nyakabara fell from a tree at just eight
weeks old. Scary! HHHHRM

Dunkirk

● FILM / Amazon Prime Video

Free to Amazon Primemembers from this week,
Christopher Nolan’s war movie grabs you from the first
moment and puts you on a French beach in 1940, where
the Nazis are breathing down the necks of thousands
of British soldiers. A snapshot of a single day, the film
follows Fionn Whitehead’s teenage soldier, Tom Hardy’s
gritty Spitfire pilot and Mark Rylance’s captain of a small
fishing boat, who sails over the Channel in a bid to assist
in the rescue. A masterpiece. HHHHHNP
