Purposefully, this funky little URL looks more akin to
something the Pet Shop Boys might put out. The
legendary synth-pop duo are back after all, busy publicising
new album Hotspot and a series of live dates this year. But no,
this site shouldn’t be confused with them despite the obviously
deliberate naming choice.
Pest Stop Boys are in fact modern-thinking pest controllers
marketing services to plagued millennials around the Brighton
and Worthing area. A witty warning that “this website contains
bugs” immediately sets a fun tone, before a fullscreen logo
header floods the viewport. The colours are disarmingly
vibrant, using two SVG backgrounds and CSS transforms to
create an amusing rollover. Here a ‘bubble’ follows the cursor
to provide a mask that not only splices the positive and
negative graphics together but also reveals aforementioned
bugs crawling beneath. It’s a simple yet neat trick that makes
use of similar TweenMax animations we encounter when
navigating further down the single page. In truth, there isn’t
much more to scroll with Leicester-based marketing agency
Herdl opting for a compact, business card-type design. A
mission statement makes good reading, but the initial ‘Monkey
Business’ says enough... That’s a Pet Shop Boys reference, not
a service option.
