Life’s Like That

SEEING THE FUNNY SIDE

MIDNIGHT RAMBLINGS
A woman who found herself
constantly woken at night by
her boyfriend talking in his sleep
decided to record him. Some of
his remarks were:
z “No, octopus, you can’t do that!”
z “Spaghetti is hair for meatballs.”
z “Where are my pancakes,
penguin?”
z “I won’t. The toilet said no.”

INSTANT MESSENGER

On the way to meet my husband at
a restaurant, I realised that I didn’t
have my phone and immediately
panicked. I needn’t have worried.
He saw my phone on the couch at
home and brought it with him.
When he arrived, I checked my texts.
There was only one, and it was from
him: “I’m on my way, and I have
your phone.” MICHELLE STEINMETZ

Organic and sustainable gardening is now all
the rage. But it’s nothing new as this 50-year-old
anecdote demonstrates.
My husband believes firmly in organic gardening
and insists that all of our refuse that has
nutritional value be tossed on his compost heap.
I didn’t realise the extent of his compost mantra
until recently. He had been repairing
the back door when he cut
his finger and it began to
bleed profusely. Without
a word, he ran across
the yard to bleed on
the compost heap.
