CAESAR’S GALLIC TRIUMPH

Below are eight of the nine 15th-century panels painted by Andrea Mantegna,

Prizes, including statues, weaponry, shields, and the model
of a conquered city, are paraded through Rome.

Jewels, gold, silver, and several sets of decorative armor are
carried aloft in the triumph.

Trumpeters play and figures carry images of the
conquered cities to celebrate Caesar.

Roman youths lead a sacrificial ox and torch-bearing
elephants through the parade.
