‘I’d say I’m naturally drawn to a more
muted colour scheme and embrace
Scandi-inspired styling by using lots of
white, grey and natural woods. I wanted
to keep the house feeling light and fresh
so we decided to stick to these colours
throughout, adding touches of blush pink
and green accents with furniture and
accessories,’ says Gemma. Having seen
geometric painted walls on Pinterest,
Gemma had a go at the technique in the
living room and created abstract shapes
to help lift the plain white walls. ‘It was
actually much easier than I thought it
would be,’ she says.
The guest bedroom design was a little
trickier, however, as she had to use a
level to make sure the line was straight,
all the way around the room. ‘In the end,
the half-painted design worked out really
well, and it’s a great way to add colour
without overwhelming small spaces.’

Gemma has to study as part of her job
as a veterinary nurse, so she’s included
lots of storage to hide her textbooks.
