Classic Ford – August 2019

THE BIG

PICTURE

SAYING GOODBYE
Austrian Formula One race legend, Niki Lauda
sadly passed away at the age of 70 at the end
of May, and while best-known for his exploits

at the wheel of a Ferrari and latterly, McLaren,
he also drove for Ford in 1974, too — in the
quad-cam 3.4-litre Capri RS3100 in the 4 hours

of Salzburg, the 1000 km of the Nürburgring,
the 4 hours of Zandvoort and at the Norisring
street circuit in Germany. He will be missed.

Terminally-rotten old Fords
With a classic Ford or two in the
garage, there’s not much excuse to
go for a walk — unless you’re
hunting treasures for Rusty Corner.
“Here are a couple of photos of
the front end of a Mk2 Escort and a
Mk3 Escort Cabriolet I recently
discovered while on a walk in a
local abandoned quarry,” says To n y
Hardisty. “I’d never noticed these
before but a recent grass fi re has
uncovered them, and as you can
see, there’s not much left!”

AUGUST 2014

We’ve never shied away from covering
classic Fords from around the globe, and in
the August 2014 issue we highlighted six
standout cars from Malta, Luxembourg,
South Africa, Germany and of course, the UK.
Blimey! If that wasn’t enough, we also sent
Bryn to Finland to investigate one Finnish
Ford fan with enough parts stashed away to
build at least three complete cars! Veke,
where are you now?
