A cocktail bar speciali ses in cocktails, drinks which combine different sp iri ts and fruit juices or cream. These
bars are usually open at the same times as pubs, but are more sophisticated and
exp ensive. They also have a cheap happy hout at about the time p eople finish work
in the evening.
A coffee bar, on the other hand, is a small restaurant that serves coffees and other
non-alcoholic drinks and light refreshments such as sandwiches and cakes. They are
usually open only during the day. The atmosphere is friendly and they are not very
expensIve.
A snack bar is a kind of inform al, inexpensive restaurant where you can buy non-
alcoholic drinks and eat small meals such as sandw iches or snacks. They are usually
only open during the d aytime.
A lounge bar, also called a saloon bar, is a public room in a hotel or restaurant,
where you ca n buy alcoholi c drinks. It is generally more luxurious than other bars
and drinks are usually more expensive. They tend co stay op en lat er than p u bs but
not as late as ni ghtclubs.
Wine bars specialise in selling different types of wine, althoug h you ca n often order
a m ea l at the sam e time. They are usually more sophistica ted and m ore exp ensive
than pubs and they are always open at night and someti mes during the day.
T here are also nightclubs, where you go to d ance, drink alc ohol and watch
entertainment like live music , s o the atmosphere is exciting. Drinks are usually ve ry
expensive, but the bar stays open until much lat er than in pubs or wine bars.
