Fold a cord and tie a cloverleaf knot (1) followed by a round brocade knot (2). Separate
the cord ends and tie each into a cloverleaf knot (3, 4). Then tie both cord ends into a
cloverleaf knot (5) in the center of knots 3 and 4 using the tying technique of the cloverleaf knot
within the ru yiknot, followed by a pan changknot (10). After completing the third side loop on
the top right part of the pan changknot, extend it into a round brocade knot (7), and then extend
the outermost loop into a cloverleaf knot (6). Repeat the steps on the left of the pan chang knot
(8, 9), making sure both sides are identical. After completing pan changknot 10, tie a button knot
(11) and hide both cord ends inside the knot body.

Fold a cord, leave a suitable length for the button loop, then tie a winged pan changknot.
Hide both cord ends inside the knot body.

This pair comprises a knot button and loop. To make the knot button (above right), fold
a cord and tie a button knot (1) to form the button, followed by a double connection knot
(2). Then tie a butterfly knot (3), but replace the pan changknot in the middle with a round bro-
cade knot. Tie each cord end into a cloverleaf knot with two loops (4, 5). Fold back the cord ends
and bind them below the knots with gold thread. To make the button loop (above left), fold
another cord, leave a suitable length for the button loop, then tie a double connection knot and
a butterfly knot. Tie each cord end into a cloverleaf knot with two loops, then fold back the cord
ends and bind them below the knots with gold thread.

The entire rim on the cheongsam at left is trimmed with cords and knots. Tie a ru yiknot
on the bottom of each outer sleeve and the slits at the sides of the cheongsam. Sew a ru yi
knot and a pan changknot onto the front of the cheongsam to act as a knot button and loop.
