When installing apps that require access to either read or write health data,
you will be asked to give permission. Allow only essential access.

Step-by-step Check apps’ health permissions

1

Health settings
Start by opening the Settings app, then
opening Health. Your Health Profile (brief
physical attributes) and Medical ID are here.
Tap ‘Data Access & Devices’ at the bottom.

2

View data sources
Apps on the iPhone that can provide data
to your activities are listed, including Apple
Health. Third-party apps that use the Watch or
other devices are listed. Tap one.

3

View permissions
Open each app and a list of health
attributes is listed. Some can only access a
few items, others can access a lot. Use the
switches to block access to items not needed.

4

View data categories
Down at the bottom of the sources
list, press ‘Data’ to see what categories of
information has been provided by this app. Use
the option to delete all data if you need to.

7

See all data
Scroll down the screen to the section
that displays popular apps. In the Walking +
Running Distance section for example, are
apps recommended for running and walking.

5

View data written
Press a category to see all the recorded
data. The data and the date and time is
displayed. Tap ‘Edit’ at the top to delete all data
or single entries if they are not right.

8

Data and sources
Below the recommended apps is another
section with options to Show All Data and Data
Sources & Access. Press ‘Data Sources...’ to
see what can write this health data.

6

View health data
Open the Health app and the Summary
screen shows your favourite activity tracking
information like Active Energy, Walking &
Running Distance. Press one to view the data.

9

View sources
What appears depends on the activity
and whether you have hardware and apps that
record it. Apple Watch or third-party apps and
devices may appear here. Tap to see them.
