Upata – Roadside restaurant - 107 km
Ernest had stomach problems and wasn’t feeling well but wanted to continue. At
last, a wide shoulder made it comfortable biking. Vendors sold massive pieces of
crackling, obviously a favourite in that part of the world. Still, I couldn’t imagine
eating such a thing.
We continued past Cuidad Guayana until reaching a restaurant sporting a shelter
that made an excellent overnight spot. Albeit closed, the restaurant owner
generously brought us each a massive plate of food. Then, preparing to crawl into
our tents, not merely the dogs but also the cats and chickens, settled around us.
