You need to feel the dry heat of the north, relax amid the
lakes and lush forests of the south and suffer the ferocious
winds of Patagonia. Travel within Chile is relatively easy
and affordable.

Weekend Getaways

If you only have the weekend or don’t want to travel too
far, there are many places near Santiago worth visiting.
Beaches, such as Reñaca, El
Quisco, Algarrobo and El Tabo,
are the obvious choice, but if you
travel a bit further north you’ll
come upon the coastal towns
and beaches of Maitencillo,
Zapallar and Papudo. Just off
the beach at Cachagua is a big
rock that is home to a colony of
penguins. Bring your binoculars
