What does it mean?
Also referred to as a
parasympathetic or fast
oxidizer, protein types have
the ability to digest food and
turn it into energy super fast.

What should you eat?
If you’re a protein type you
should eat foods higher in
fats and protein such as oils,
beef, chicken, fish and eggs.
You should reduce your
carbohydrate consumption,
focusing on higher fibre carbs
when you have them, such as
vegetables and wholegrains.

Be aware of:
A protein type diet has a
heavy focus on eating fats
and protein. Subsequently,
you can be left feeling
fatigued as protein doesn’t
provide your body with
any energy, and you’re
not getting much energy
from carbohydrates.

What does it mean?
Also referred to as a
sympathetic or slow oxidizer,
carbo types are slow at
digesting food and turning
it into energy.

What should you eat?
Foods that are higher in
carbohydrates such as fruit,
vegetables and wholegrains
should be a focus. You need
to reduce your protein intake
such as beef, lamb and
pork. Proteins like white
fish and chicken are okay
in small amounts, along with
small amounts of fat in the
form of oils and nuts.

Be aware of:
Your focus on eating foods
filled with carbohydrates
can lead to cravings and, if
your blood sugar becomes
elevated, this can also lead to
fat storage. Be mindful to eat
carbs that are higher in fibre.

What does it mean?
Also referred to as an
autonomic balanced or
mixed oxidizer, mixed types
are neither fast or slow when
it comes to digesting and
storing food as energy.
Mixed types can embrace
a wider range of food
which is ideal.

What should you eat?
As a mixed type you should
aim for an equal amount
of carbohydrates, proteins
and fats. Brown rice, quinoa,
oats, avocado, nuts, seeds,
chicken, eggs and beef are all
great as you easily digest them
and break them down into
energy efficiently.

Be aware of:
Mixed types control their
weight well but can have
cravings for sweets
due to their ability to
embrace carbohydrates.
