without using artwork,” she says. To keep clutter down in the master
bath, she placed a tower on the counter between the two vanity mir-
rors. “This way, everything is neat, and it’s nice to have personal items
at eye level instead of in a drawer,” she notes.
For those who reside along Florida’s western shores, the outdoor
living area is an all-important aspect of the home. Here, the exterior
space is as functional as it is handsome. A retractable power awning
extends 12 feet for additional sun protection—a must on those sunny
days—while a dual-level pool deck looks distinctly resort-like. A land-
scape ClearView screen, which has no bars on the vertical portions,
provides unimpeded views while offering protection.
Adjacent to the pool, an outdoor living area is one of the most pop-
ular parts of the house. A stained cypress ceiling adds richness to the
seating and dining areas, which are comprised of rattan furnishings
and blue-and-white fabrics.
The most successful homes are the ones that honor the clients’ per-
sonalities and effectively embrace all that’s current without disregard-
ing the past. “This home is not all new and shiny,” Hoover says. “It
comes with a lot of history. I love it.” «
