February 15, representatives
of EUSA took a working visit to
Braga, the hosting city of the
European Universities Volleyball
Championship in July, to check
up on preparations, visit the
facilities and meet the members
of FADU in their headquarters.


The weekend between the
3-5 of March, in Madeira, few
important FADU events took
place, marking the 33-year
anniversary of the Portugal
University Sports Association.
Among these events, the
Academy of Leaders took place,
starting the program with the
address of the President of the
European University Sports
Association (EUSA), Adam
Roczek, who spoke about the
organization he leads and the
work that EUSA does in the
development of university sport
on a European level. Following
on the program was the ‘Sports
for People with Disabilities”
panel and the round table on
‘The 33 Years of FADU’, which
included André Reis and Filipa
Godinho, former presidents of
FADU, Duarte Lopes and Manuel
Veloso, former Secretary
Generals of FADU, and Fernando
Parente, former Vice-President
of FADU.


On March 23, 2023, in Budapest,
at the University of Physical
Education, in connection with
the European Universities
Games 2024, a meeting
between the Hungarian
University Sports Federation
(MEFS) and the national
associations of the sports
participating in the Games,
took place. The representatives
of the two host universities,
the University of Debrecen
and the University of Miskolc,
gave a detailed presentation
of the sports programs, the
venues and the educational and
cultural aspects of the European
Universities Games 2024.


From April 5 to 7, EUSA
Auditors Liviu Matac and
Hovhannes Gabrielyan met
with EUSA Treasurer Francis


Cirianni and Secretary General
Matjaz Pecovnik in Bucharest,
Romania, for the audit of
the EUSA accounts. On the
occasion of the meeting, EUSA
representatives visited the
Headquarters of the Romanian
Schools and Universities
Sports Federation, a member
of EUSA, where they deeply
discussed the various activities
and forms of cooperation
between the two organizations.
The EUSA representatives
thanked its member federation
for active participation at the
EUSA events, as well as for
promoting the EUSA associated
membership among their
universities.

On the occasion of the
championships, EUSA
representatives Matjaz
Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary
General, Aitor Canibe, EUSA
Vice President and Liviu Matac,
EUSA Auditor, met with Pedro
Mercado Pacheco, Rector of the
University of Granada and Jordi
Mercade Torras, Director of
Sport Centre at the University,
to discuss the possibilities of
eventual next EUSA events to be
organised in Granada. The well
organised EUC Tennis raised the
idea to host an EUSA event also
on the remarkable 500-year
anniversary of University of
Granada; the possibilities and
conditions for organisation were
the main topic of discussion
between EUSA and University of
Granada representatives.

On the occasion of the 2023
World Athletics Championships
in Budapest, European
University Sports Association
(EUSA) on 23rd of August,
President Adam Roczek, met
with representatives of the
Hungarian University Sports
Federation (MESF) and the
International University Sports
Federation (FISU).

The always excellent
cooperation between MEFS –
EUSA and FISU during the last
years became even stronger,
with Hungarian University

Sports Federation being
nowadays one of the most
active Federations in Europe.
Present and future plans
were also discussed, since
Debrecen-Miskolc European
Universities Games 2024 are

fast approaching, and other
international sports bids
are being considered by the
Hungarian federations.
