The Battle Creek Field of Flight Air
Show and Balloon Festival July 3-
will feature air show favorites, along
with some new acts.
“We’re proud of the lineup we have
assembled this year” said Bretten
Bailey, media director and one of the
air show organizers. “We brought
back some favorite acts but also some
new ones to keep it all fresh.”
The air show will feature the U.S.
Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Army
Golden Knights, U.S. Navy F/A-18F
Super Hornet RHINO Demo Team,
U.S. Air Force A-10C Thunderbolt
II Demo Team, U.S. Air Force
Heritage Flight and the Navy’s F-35C
Lightning II Demo Team.
However, a large contingent of war-
bird and civilian aircraft will also be
seen.
Greg Colyer will fly in the T-
Shooting Star “Ace Maker III.”
The T-33 is a jet warbird designed
by University of Michigan graduate
Clarence “Kelly” Johnson as part
of Lockheed’s top secret “Skunk
Works” division.
The P-47 Thunderbolt “Chief

Ski-U-Mah II” from Fagen Fighters
Museum will also be on hand, flown
by Steve Hinton Jr.
Bailey said, “Two of the most
famous and well known aerobatic
pilots in the world today will be per-
forming in Battle Creek: Rob Holland
and Bill Stein.”
The two are air show legends with
numerous awards under their belts,
and Holland has even won numer-
ous World Freestyle Aerobatic
Championships.
“They have become staples in
Battle Creek and we couldn’t imagine
having a show without them being a
part of it,” explained Bailey.
Other acts include the father-
and-son duo of Redline Airshows;
up-and-comer Charlie Morris in
his Decathlon; Skip Stewart’s in
his highly modified Pitts known as
“Prometheus”; Nathan Hammond in
the “GhostWriter” Super Chipmunk;
Kyle Franklin’s Flying Circus
Comedy Act; Erik Edgren in the
T-Clips; and Smoke-n-Thunder Jet
Shows, featuring Hayden Proffitt II in
the “HOT STREAK II” Jet Truck.

Pyrotechnics, including the WALL
OF FIRE, will also be provided
by Rick Myers and Firewalkers
International Pyro.
Phil Dacy will be the show
announcer.
Bob Carlton of Vertigo Airshows
will bring his brand new Foxjet Twin
Jet Engine Sailplane and perform in
both the day and night shows.
Full air shows are scheduled for
July 4, 6 and 7.
July 5 will feature a civilian teaser
show, as well as the twilight and

night air show.
Organizers noted that July 5 is a
military down day and will not fea-
ture military acts.

amazing to create this new location
for the pantry. They’ve stayed within
the community that they serve and
have make it a much more welcom-
ing environment. Sharon Johnson has
just done an amazing job of taking
over the pantry when Fred Lutzke
passed away.”
Borders went on to praise Johnson
who faced multiple challenges.
“She has just stepped up an done

an outstanding job,” said Borders.
The ministry is non-denomina-
tional and is supported through both
monetary and food donations from
churches, individuals service organi-
zations, local businesses and grants
through the Food Bank of South
Central Michigan. Pantries are oper-
ated by volunteers and there are no
paid positions.
The pantry takes direct donations
including of food and toiletries as
well as monetary donations.
It is also holding a fundraiser
for the backpack program, the

for Meals on Sept. 21.
