Tom Werkmeister, a golf profes-
sional from Hudsonville and a mem-
ber of the Michigan Golf Hall of
Fame, shot a sizzling 18-hole round
of 8-under-par 64 on Tuesday, July
9 to capture the 2024 Yamaha Golf
Cars Michigan PGA Senior Open at
Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle
Creek.
The event turned into a
one-day, 18-hole tourney,
as rain later in the day on
July 9 that continued into
July 10 led to the final
18-hole round to be can-
celled.
The Senior Open title
was Werkmeister’s second
and earned him $2,400.
