The Michigan High School
Athletics Association’s Fall 2024
campaign for local and state-wide
affiliated schools got underway Aug.
12 with first practices being allowed,
and regular-season events in some
sports began Aug. 15 – with more
sports to follow.
Following are the varsity prep
sports schedules for local teams for
the next couple of weeks.
Proudly, the Shopper News is the
only local media outlet that makes
this schedule available all school-
year long in a comprehensive form
involving all city high school varsity
teams under the MHSAA umbrella,
along with the schedules of four
other nearby schools that are part
of the SN’s sports coverage area:
Athens, Galesburg-Augusta, Climax-
Scotts and Gull Lake.


  • Note 1: Any local school, busi-
    ness or individual(s) interested in
    sponsoring a Prep Schedule header
    advertisement for thiese weekly lists
    of upcoming local high school varsi-
    ty sports events can call the Shopper
    News at (269) 965-3955 for more
    information.
    The Prep Schedule for the 2024-25
    MHSAA school year (Fall, Winter,
    Spring) will run through early June
    next year. The Prep Schedule header
    ad for one’s local business, group,
    organization or individual(s) – which
    would share with the community
    one’s support of local prep athlet-
    ics – can be for one week, multiple
    weeks, months or for the entire
    2024-25 MHSAA school year.

  • Note 2: A note to all local
    coaches – to those coaching varsity
    sports at Battle Creek Central, Battle
    Creek Academy, Calhoun Christian,
    Harper Creek, Lakeview, Pennfield,
    St. Philip, Athens, Climax-Scotts,
    Galesburg-Augusta and Gull Lake:

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AMENDMENT TO
DEVELOPMENT PLAN/TAX INCREMENT FINANCE
PLAN OF THE TAX INCREMENT FINANCE AUTHORITY
OF THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD

To all interested persons in the City of Springfield:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the City Council of the City of
Springfield, Michigan, will hold a public hearing on Monday, September
16, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., Eastern Time at the Susan L. Anderson Municipal
Building, 601 Avenue A, Springfield, Michigan, to consider approval by
the City Council of the 2024 Plan Amendment to the Development Plan/
Tax Increment Finance Plan of the Tax Increment Finance Authority of
the City of Springfield pursuant to Part 3 of Act 57 of the Public Acts of
Michigan of 2018, as amended.

The boundaries of the development area to which the 2024
Plan Amendment applies in relation to highways, streets, streams, or
otherwise are generally as follows:

Copies of the Development Plan/Tax Increment Finance Plan
and the proposed 2024 Plan Amendment, maps, plats, etc. are on file
at the office of the City Clerk for public inspection.

All aspects of the 2024 Plan Amendment will be open for
discussion at the public hearing. At the public hearing, the City Council
shall receive and consider communications in writing with reference to
the 2024 Plan Amendment. All interested persons desiring to address
the City Council shall be afforded an opportunity to be heard in regard
to the approval of the 2024 Plan Amendment. The hearing shall provide
the fullest opportunity for expression of opinion, for argument on the
merits, and for introduction of documentary evidence pertinent to the
2024 Plan Amendment.

FURTHER INFORMATION may be obtained from the City
Clerk’s office.

This notice is given by order of the City Council of the City of
Springfield, Michigan.
