Marywood Golf Club in Battle Creek
recently reported hole in ones at their
links sites:
- Ryan Riley (Berning) produced a
hole in one on Aug. 2 at Binder Park
GC during Buck-Up event play. He
used a 5-iron to ace the 178-yard,
par-3 No. 2 hole on the Preserve
Course.
- And, Stevie Karlo notched a
hole in one on Aug. 14 while play-
ing in the Wednesday Ladies league
at Marywood GC. Karlo used a
15-wood to ace the 95-yard, par-3
No. 4 hole.

The annual All-City Boys’ Tennis
Meet is scheduled to take place this
Saturday (Aug. 24) starting at 8:30
a.m. on the courts at the Harper
Creek High Tennis Complex.
Teams in the field will be Battle
Creek Central (a co-op with St.
Philip), Harper Creek, eight-time
defending champion Lakeview and
Pennfield.
Also: Lakeview – co-coached again
this year by Jeff Van Dis and Stuart
Smith – opened its Fall 2024 season
last Saturday with a 4-4 tie against
Traverse City Central.
In singles: No. 1 Colin Yarger lost
6-2, 6-1; No. 2 Jay Hamric lost 6-3,
6-3; No. 3 Kolten Etheridge lost 6-4,
6-1; and No. 4 John Yang won 6-2,
6-2.
In doubles: No. 1 Tyler Duval-Eric
Ryan won 6-3, 1-6, 6-2; No. 2 Adam
Huang-Brady Kolassa won 6-2, 6-4;
No. 3 Brogan Oxley-Noah Rebhan
won 2-6, 6-3, 7-5; and No. 4 Charlie
