The time to make plans for a winter
landscape is now, as the fall planting
season begins, says Dave DeGraaf,
head of the Calhoun County Master
Gardener Association.
Gary Miller of Wedel’s Garden
Center in Kalamazoo will present a
program at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept.
3, to the CCMGA on “Adding Winter
Interest to Your Yard,” focusing
on plants and other ideas that help
people’s yards have a four-season
interest.
Miller is a Certified Green Industry
Professional.
He earned a B.S. from Michigan
State University in agricultural engi-
neering and is a registered profes-
sional engineer.
“Gardening is his passion, with
vegetable gardening in general and
heirloom tomatoes in particular being
areas of interest, though there’s very
few kinds of gardening and land-
scaping that he doesn’t enjoy,” said
DeGraaf.
The event will be held at 103 Limit
St. in Battle Creek.
Guests are welcome for a small fee,
and season memberships are avail-
able.
