In the 9th month (Oct./Nov.) of 785, Hsi envoys were received at
the T’ang court (Chiu T’ang shu 12:21a).
In the 7th month (Aug./Sep.) of 788, the Hsi and Shih-wei looted
Chinese territory (Chiu T’ang shu 199B:9a).
On Feb.9, 793,^5 Hsi envoys were received at the T’ang court (Chiu
T’ang shu 13:8a).
In 801, Hsi envoys were given an audience by Emperor Te-tsung
(Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5032).
In 806, the Hsi king, Military Governor of the non-existant Jao-lo
Area Command, and King Who Has Attached Himself to Truthful-
ness, Mei-lo, came personally to the T’ang court. He was appointed
Acting Minister of Works and then returned to his home land (Chiu
T’ang shu 199B:9a).
In the 2nd month (Mar./Apr.) of 807, Hsi envoys offered gifts (Chiu
T’ang shu 14:13a; Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5032).
In 808, Emperor Hsien-tsung made the Hsi chief So-ti a General of
the Majestic Guards of the Right and conferred on him the imperial
surname of Li (Chiu T’ang shu 199B:9a).
In the 11th month (December) of 810, in 813, and in 815, the
Hsi presented offerings (Chiu T’ang shu 199B:9a, 9b; Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei
p.5032).
In the 1st month (Feb./Mar.) of 816, Hsi chiefs presented fine horses
(Chiu T’ang shu 15:11b; 199B:9a; Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
In 818, the 12th month (Jan./Feb., 823) of the Chinese year 822,
on Jan.1, 825, in the 12th month (Jan./Feb., 826) of the Chinese year
825, in the 12th month (Dec./Jan., 831) of the Chinese year 830,
in the 11th month (Dec./Jan., 832) of the Chinese year 831, and in
834, Hsi envoys offered gifts (Chiu T’ang shu 15:16a; T’ang-hui-yao 96:
5b;Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
In the 12th month (Dec./Jan., 836) of the Chinese year 835, the Hsi
chief No-lang and others, 30 men in all, were received at the T’ang
court (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
In the 12th month (Jan./Feb.), 840) of the Chinese year 839, the
Hsi chief Wen-na-ku offered gifts (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
In 923, the Later T’ang conferred on the Hsi king, Sao-tz’u, the
imperial surname of Li and the given name of Shao-wei (Wu-tai hui-
yao 28:13b).
