In the 1st month (Feb./Mar.) of 1011, another Uighur envoy from
Kan chou also requested permission to the attend the Sacrifices to
Sovereign Earth in Fen-yin, and this was allowed. He was given the
title of General-in-chief of the Army of Divine Fierceness of the Left
and an associate of his was made General of the Gentlemen. Both
received caps and belts, vessels, and silk. Chen-tsung performed the
sacrifices on Mar.24, 1011. On Mar.25, the envoys from Kan chou
offered gifts to him [in Fen-yin]. When they had returned to K’ai-feng,
Chen-tsung presented the qaghan of Kan chou with 500 garments,
500 ounces of silver vessels, brocade gowns, and golden belts. The
Princess of Pao-wu received 400 garments and 300 ounces of silver
vessels, and the chief minister 200 garments and 100 ounces of silver
vessels. The envoys were given silver vessels and golden head orna-
ments (Sung shih 8:1b; Sung hui-yao kao ts’e 197:5a-5b).
In the 4th month (May/June) of 1011, a Uighur envoy presented a
jade belt to Chen-tsung and congratulated on the sacrifices in Fen-yin
(Sung hui-yao kao ts’e 197:5b).
In the 6th month (July/Aug.) of 1011, a Uighur envoy from Kan
chou was by Chen-tsung presented with a brocade robe and silver
belt. On his way back, he was robbed. The emperor replaced what
had been taken from him (Sung hui-yao kao ts’e 197:5b).
On Sep.22, 1011,^114 envoys from the Uighur qaghan of Kan chou
announced a victory to the Sung court. The envoys were appointed
Managers of Lances and Guards of the Staircase (Sung shih 8:3b; 490:
15a;Sung hui-yao kao ts’e 197:5b).
On May 31, 1012, envoys from the Uighur qaghan of Kan chou
and the Princess of Pao-wu to the Sung court offered camels and
horses. On June 6, an envoy from Kan chou presented one jade lump
and three horses, while another Uighur offered one horse (Sung hui-yao
kao ts’e 197:5b).
In the 12th month (Jan./Feb.,1014) of the Chinese year 1013, the
Uighur qaghan of Kan chou offered 20 broken-in horses to the Sung
court (Sung shih 8:8a; 490:15; Sung hui-yao kao ts’e 197:6a).
In the 9th month (Oct./Nov.) of 1015, an Interpreter of the For-
eign Relations Office returned from Kan chou with a letter from the
qaghan in which he sought a marriage and informed the Sung court
that the Princess of Pao-wu had died in the 2nd month (Mar./Apr.)
