In 1120, Hsia offered gifts to the Sung court (Sung shih 22:4b).
In the 6th month (July/Aug.) of 1122, Hsia forces arrived in Liao
to assist the Khitan in their final struggle against the Jurchen. They
were defeated. On Aug.18, a Hsia envoy inquired about the well-
being of the Liao emperor.^35 Ch’ien-shun invited him to come to his
state. T’ien-tso temporarily took advantage of this offer (Liao shih 29:
4b; 115:10b; Chin shih 134:1b).
On May 19, 1123, envoys from Hsia to T’ien-tso requested that
he recognize Ch’ien-shun as emperor of the Hsia State. He did so in
the 6th month (June/July) (Liao shih 29:6b; 115:10b).
In the intercalary month (Apr./May) of 1124, Emperor T’ai-tsung
of Chin sent a communication to Hsia (Chin shih 134:1b).
In the 9th month (Oct./Nov.) of 1124, Hsia envoys to the Sung
court offered gifts (Sung shih 22:11a).
On Nov.8, 1124, Hsia envoys to the Chin court acknowledged the
communication from T’ai-tsung. The Chin shih claims that Ch’ien-shun
in his reply called himself a “subject”, which is as implausible as all
other cases previously examined (Chin shih 3:5a; 134:1b).
On Nov.22, 1124, Hsia envoys arrived at the Chin court to con-
gratulate on the birthday of T’ai-tsung (Chin shih 3:5a).^36
On Feb.5, 1125, the New Year’s Day, Hsia envoys congratulated
at the Chin court. On Feb.27, envoys congratulated T’ai-tsung on his
enthronement. On Nov.11, envoys congratulated on the birthday of
T’ai-tsung (Chin shih 3:5b, 6b).
After Ch’in-tsung had ascended the Sung throne on Jan.19, 1126,
Hsia envoys congratulated on the New Year’s Day of Jan.25 (Sung
shih 486:17a).
On Nov.1, 1126, Hsia envoys to the Chin court congratulated on
the birthday of T’ai-tsung (Chin shih 3:9a).
On Feb.13, 1127, the New Year’s Day, Hsia envoys congratulated at
the Chin court. In the 3rd month (Apr./May), Hsia envoys requested
peace with Chin. They were arrested. On Nov.20, Hsia envoys to the
Chin court congratulated on the birthday of T’ai-tsung (Sung shih 486:
17b; Chin shih 3:9b, 10b).
