On Feb.3, 1166, the New Year’s Day, Southern Sung envoys con-
gratulated at the Chin court. They had received their orders on Nov.8,
- On the same day, Chin envoys congratulated at the Southern
Sung court. They had arrived on Jan.30 (Sung shih 33:20b-21a, 21b;
Chin shih 6:16b).
On Apr.2, 1166,^34 Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court con-
gratulated on the birthday of Shih-tsung. They had received their
orders on Jan.11 (Sung shih 33:21a-21b; Chin shih 6:16b).
On Nov.15, 1166, a Master of Writing of the Ministry of House-
holds and other Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court to
congratulate on the birthday of Hsiao-tsung.^35 They had received their
orders on Oct.2 (Sung shih 33:24a; Chin shih 6:17a).
On Jan.23, 1167, the New Year’s Day, Southern Sung envoys
congratulated at the Chin court. They had received their orders on
Oct.30, 1166. On the same day, Chin envoys congratulated at the
Southern Sung court. They had arrived on Jan.19 (Sung shih 33:24a,
25a;Chin shih 6:18a).
On Mar.23, 1167, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court con-
gratulated on the birthday of Shih-tsung. They had received their
orders on Dec.29, 1166 (Sung shih 33:24b; Chin shih 6:18a).
On June 27, 1167, Chin envoys to the Southern Sung court sought
the release of prisoners of war. This was agreed to (Sung shih 34:2a).
On Dec.4, 1167, the Commissioner for Encouraging Agriculture and
other Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court to congratulate
on the birthday of Hsiao-tsung.^36 They had received their orders in
the 9th month (Oct./Nov.) (Sung shih 34:3b; Chin shih 6:18b).
On Feb.11, 1168, the New Year’s Day, Southern Sung envoys
congratulated at the Chin court. They had received their orders on
Nov.16, 1167. On the same day, Chin envoys congratulated at the
Southern Sung court. They had arrived on Feb.7 (Sung shih 34:3b,
4a;Chin shih 6:19b).
On Apr.10, 1168, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court con-
gratulated on the birthday of Shih-tsung. They had received their
orders on Jan.17 (Sung shih 34:4a; Chin shih 6:20b).
On Nov.22, 1168, the Commissioner of the Palace Attendants of
(^34) Chin shih has the cyclical characters of jen-yin, which did not occur in the 3rd
month. However, Shih-tsung’s birthday in 1166 fell on Apr.2.
