On Mar.17, 1201, Ning-tsung sent envoys to Chin to thank for the
condolence [for the empress]. This mission was received at the Chin
court on Apr.19 (Sung shih 38:1a; Chin shih 11:9a).
On Sep.29, 1201, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court con-
gratulated on the birthday of Chang-tsung. They had received their
orders on July 4 (Sung shih 38:2a; Chin shih 11:10a).
On Nov.14, 1201, the Commissioner of the Palace Attendants of
the Right and other Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court
to congratulate on the birthday of Ning-tsung.^70 They had received
their orders in the 9th month (Sep./Oct.) (Sung shih 38:3a; Chin shih
11:10a-10b).
On Jan.26, 1202, the New Year’s Day, Southern Sung envoys con-
gratulated at the Chin court. They had received their orders on Oct.22,



  1. On the same day, the General of the Guards of the Right of the
    Palace and other Chin envoys congratulated at the Sourthern Sung
    court. They had received their orders on Dec.10, 1201, and arrived
    on Jan.22, 1202 (Sung shih 38:2b, 3a; Chin shih 11:11a).
    On Sep.18, 1202, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court con-
    gratulated on the birthday of Chang-tsung. They had received their
    orders on June 24 (Sung shih 38:3b; Chin shih 11:12a).
    On Nov.3, 1202, the Auxiliary Commander of the Saluting Guards
    and other Chin envoys arrived at the Southern Sung court to con-
    gratulate on the birthday of Ning-tsung.^71 They had received their
    orders on Sep.30, on which occasion Chang-tsung had instructed the
    chief envoy to admonish Ning-tsung, saying:”Our two states have
    been at peace for a long time. It is not proper that you wrangle for
    petty reasons and thereby destroy the great propriety” (Sung shih 38:
    4a;Chin shih 11:12a).
    On Feb.14, 1203, the New Year’s Day, Southern Sung envoys
    congratulated at the Chin court. They had received their orders on
    Nov.10, 1202. On the same day, Chin envoys congratulated at the
    Southern Sung court. They had arrived on Feb.10 (Sung shih 38:3a,
    4b;Chin shih 11:12b).
    On Oct.7, 1203, Southern Sung envoys to the Chin court con-
    gratulated on the birthday of Chang-tsang. They had received their
    orders on July 15 (Sung shih 38:5b; Chin shih 11:14a).
