On Wednesday, February 7,
EUSA President Adam Roczek,
EUSA Secretary General Matjaz
Pecovnik and EUSA Treasurer
Francis Cirianni, were guests of
the University of Ljubljana and
met with the institution Rector
Prof. Dr. Gregor Majdic in the
main building of the University –
Congress Square, Ljubljana. The
meeting follows a long history
of partnership between the two
entities, since the University
has long been the host of the
EUSA Office before the actual
relocation in 2010, and the
academic institution still is EUSA
partner of numerous educational
projects and sport activities –
with the City of Ljubljana itself
as stage of various EUSA events
in the past. It was a pleasant
occasion for strengthening
relations and talking about ideas
and collaborations for the next
future.
On the 23rd of April, a working
meeting was held between
representatives of the European
University Sports Association
(EUSA) and the Slovenian
University Sports Association
(SUSA), at EUSA headquarters
in Ljubljana. The working
meeting was attended by the
newly elected SUSA President
Klemen Kristan, SUSA Secretary
General Jan Sredensek and
EUSA Secretary General Matjaz
Pecovnik. At the meeting,
representatives from SUSA
presented the structure of
the National University Sports
Association and the foreseen
activities and endeavours that will
be taken with the newly elected
leadership. The meeting also
involved discussion on possible
ways to improve collaboration.

AWARDS
On the occasion of the University
of Granada Sports Gala 2024,
taking place on September 27th
in Granada, Spain, the European
University Sports Association
(EUSA) received an award as
a recognition for its 25 years
leading university sport in Europe.
Present at the Sports Gala and
receiving the award on behalf
of EUSA, were Francis Cirianni,
Treasurer and Matjaz Pecovnik,
Secretary General. Among
the awarded people, EUSA
Vice-President and Secretary
General of the Spanish University
Sport Committee Aitor Canibe
Sanchez received an award as
a recognition of his professional
career in sports management,
specifically in university sports.
On the invitation of the Armenian
Student Sports Federation
(ASSF) Adam Roczek, EUSA
President and Matjaz Pecovnik,
EUSA Secretary General visited
Yerevan to attend the ASFF
Annual General Assembly and
celebration on the occasion of
the ASSF 30th Anniversary. During
the Anniversary Ceremony,
ASSF awarded its members and
partners for their contribution to
the development of university
sports, among them also to
Roczek and Pecovnik.
The Swiss University Sports
held its annual awards ceremony
evening in Lucerne on 25th
October 2024. Numerous guests,
including prominent figures from
sports and education, gathered
to honour the outstanding
achievements in university and
elite sports. A special spotlight of
the event was the presentation
of the Lifetime Award to the
President of the International
University Sports Federation
FISU, Leonz Eder, for his
outstanding services to university
sports, both nationally and
internationally.
