The Sydney-based Anna Quan designer loves

the art-centric atmosphere in Victoria’s capital

WHERE TO GO: “High Street in Armadale. It’s a mix of
designer and boutique shopping with plenty of good cafes
and restaurants. Gertrude Street [Fitzroy] has an eclectic
mix of boutiques and intimate wine bars. Flinders Lane in
the CBD has small, luxury multi-brand stores and is in easy
walking distance to Degraves Street and Centre Place.”

WHERE TO STAY AND EAT: “Art Series hotel is such a
great concept that supports artists and allows people to
appreciate art on their stay. I love to [eat at] Supernormal,
with its sleek interior. The Wagyu striploin is to die for. Try
Peaches bar and rooftop for its super-cool pink decor. For
genuinely great coffee without the Instagrammable buzz,
visit Small Block down Lygon Street in Brunswick East.”

WHAT TO DO: “See the latest exhibition at the National
Gallery of Victoria. I’m always envious of the numerous
exhibitions they have and sometimes I book a ticket to
Melbourne just to see one. I love walking along Southbank
and lying in the botanical gardens to people-watch. The
Dot Comme store has a curated selection of the best
Japanese designers; there is no store like this in Sydney.”

WHAT TO PACK: “Light cotton knitwear because it’s
breathable when the weather’s hot and also warm when
it’s not. I always have Cosmedix Purity Solution Deep
Cleansing Oil with me, my phone charger and laptop
for work, plus comfy sneakers for walking and an
umbrella. You don’t want to be caught out!”
