ASIAN UNIVERSITY SPORTS

FEDERATION

The Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) hosted four remarkable

championships across 2019 as well as the FISU-NUSF Seminar, all of

which were fully presented to Asia and the world via the AUSF website

and Facebook page by the newly-formed AUSF Media Committee. The four

championships brought together hundreds of university students from all

over Asia to compete for glory and enrich their university sports experience,

while the 2019 FISU-NUSF seminar attracted 50 delegates from 14 countries/

regions to discuss the topic of “Media and Sports Development”. The Seminar

provided a useful platform to foster friendship and knowledge sharing.

AUSF Championships

In 2019, four Asian University
Championships were staged,
including the 5th 3x3 Basketball
Championship, the first
Asian University Badminton
Championship in Chinese Taipei,
the first Asian University Karate
Championship in Macau China
and the second Asian University
Cheerleading Championship
in Korea. Over 500 officials,
coaches and student-athletes
from nearly 20 member

federations participated in these

four championships.

As a FISU qualifying

tournament, the 3x3 Basketball

Championship has grown to be

a flagship event for both AUSF

and FISU, stimulating more

and more university students

to watch and participate in this

sport in recent years. Mongolia

and Chinese Taipei won the

tickets in the men’s category for

2019 FISU 3x3 Basketball World

Cup Final while the Chinese

Taipei and Iran teams took the

honour in the women’s category.

Both the inaugural Karate and

Badminton Championships

also enjoyed similar successes,

and it is hoped that both

will become regular events

on the AUSF calendar. For

Karate, there was a total of 11

participating countries/regions

with nearly 100 delegates for

the championship, while many

top young athletes across Asia

participated in the inaugural

edition of the Badminton

Championship, elevating the

competition to an international

level.

The 2nd Cheerleading

Championship held in

Korea attracted almost

200 participants from eight

countries/regions, with Team

Japan impressing everyone

with world-class performances

and dominating the final results

convincingly.
