Europe and South America, in the coming years.
Speaking to Fast Company at the time of the
announcement, Lisa Jackson said: “If you look
at our trajectory, for the last couple of years
we’ve been close to 100%. It’s just 4% more,
but it’s four percent done the right way. So this
announcement feels like a classic Apple product
release. Like our products, we sweat the details,
we have pretty strict standards, and we prefer to
wait and meet our standards than to rush and
make a claim.”

THE FUTURE IS GREEN

It’s hard to fathom the time or resources
required for Apple’s renewable energy
commitment, with the company having to
scrutinize every element of its supply and
manufacturing chain to assess the impact each
has on the environment. Apple’s commitment to
renewables and the environment is a testament
to both its innovation and passion for creating
a better world, and whilst spending billions on
solar plants and disassembly robots may not be
as exciting as a shiny iPhone, what’s interesting
is that Apple carefully manages the entire
product lifecycle.

From mining the raw materials required to
create a new iPhone through to its everyday use
with green-energy data centers and retail stores
to end-of-life, when Apple will recycle your old
device to maximize raw materials, the company
has created an environmentally-friendly product
lifespan - and takes ownership and responsibility
for the hard work themselves.

It’s easy to criticize companies such as Apple
for releasing new smartphones year in, year out
