e all know that the safest form of
motorcycle clothing is leathers; just
ask any racer or trackday enthusiast.
The combination of impact protection
from armour and abrasion protection from
thick, resistant hide is a winning combination
when it comes to the worst-case scenario.
However, they are made for riding pure and
simple, not being worn off the bike and are
cumbersome at best and uncomfortable at
worst, unless in the racing tuck. So casual
clothing that provides some protection, such as
riding jeans, can offer the best of both worlds.
Fitting and looking like regular jeans, riding
jeans will include certainly knee and potentially
hip armour and will have some form of
abrasion protection built in. That may be a
separate layer inside the cotton denim or a
specialist material woven into the outer denim
itself to protect the rider in the case of a slide.
We decided it was time to see what was
