24 .Wake up and smell the profit
You need to take all the
financial aspects of the
business and have a target
for them. Don’t go
through the year
rudderless just “expecting”
to make more money. It
won’t happen.
But make sure it’s not just about the financial side of the business. If
you are working a 60 hour week and never seeing your family then
the business simply isn’t working for you. It is a dangerous myth
that hospitality businesses require huge hours from the owners and
you need to make sure that you don’t fall into that trap. If you’re
working too hard then employ better staff and train them to do
some of your job. Put in systemsto ensure the business runs just
as well when you’re not there as it does when you are.
