ThisGPSunitis usually

mountedonthehotshoe,

andin additiontoGPS,

includesa magnetic

compassthatrecords

direction(althoughit

doesn’tseemvery

accuratein portraitmode).

It alsogeneratesa logon

GoogleEarthtoshow

whereI havewalked,and

doublesasthereceiverof

a wirelessshutterrelease,

suppliedcompletewith

handset.I wouldhave

describedit asa superb

deviceuntillastJuly,when

forsomereasonmine

startedtoreportdates

exactly1,024weeksout,

initially(year19)99,and

then(20)39.

TheGeotaggerPro2was

originallydesignedtowork

withNikoncameras,buta

Canonversionwas

subsequentlyproduced.

Solmeta has since

introducedthelarger

GMAXunit,whichreceives

bothGPSandBeiDou,so

shouldprovidemore

accuratelocation,and

avoidgettingthedate

wrongfromGPSroll-over.
