DON QUIXOTE

Who says I’m above a bit of
dressing up? A roaming warrior
who’s lost their mind fits perfectly
into the world of Dark Souls and
Lucatiel’s Mask here was itself
inspired by the character of Don

Quixote. The battered armour looks
borrowed but somewhat knightly,
and the hat gives a pompous vibe
that is a must. His weapon of
choice, the lance, isn’t one of Dark
Souls 3’s most capable weapons but
anyone using it would have to be
both brave and stupid, a perfect fit
for The Man of La Mancha.

ADVENTURER

This flamboyant look makes use of the Antiquated Plain
set but finishes it with the Pale Shade Trousers for those
gorgeous white boots. It’s a world away from the battered
armour and boiled leathers of most of Dark Souls’ outfits
and lets someone stand out while also suggesting a distant
origin, perhaps from another time all together. The
Aquamarine Dagger, that summons a glowing crystal
blade, is a magical finish that is awkward and challenging
to fight. It isn’t the most protective so will require some
confidence, but this might throw your enemies off guard.

THE MYSTIC

Anyone who’s played through Dark
Souls will recall both the Channellers
and their master, Seath the Scaleless.
This combination ties a character
explicitly to him and his experiments,
but the blood stained skirt and
Golden Tracer sword suggest
someone firmly off the chain.
Someone escaped from the Duke
Archives? A servant gone wrong?
Their holy shield suggests someone
who has recently turned down a
different path but faith hasn’t made
them merciful. Nobody could
possibly be certain but the air of
mystery is sure to intimidate any
who cross their path.

PILGRIM

Dark Souls 2 has some of the series’ most
diverse options but I can’t get enough of
this humble look. Using nothing but the
Imported Set, coupled with the
Wanderer’s Greaves, this is all starting
equipment. The scimitar and whip
aren’t particularly intimidating on their
own either. A look as storyless and
unassuming as this tends to inspire two
kinds of reaction when I invade: those
who thought me an amateur, stuck on
the game’s first items, and those who
thought me a master, confident to wear
nothing but rags into battles.
