ASSEMBLING THE SHAPES
Step 4 Centre one paper template B
onto a piece of cut fabric, and fold the
sides of the fabric over the edges of
the paper. Sew a basting stitch around
the perimeter of the fabric, going
through the paper. Repeat in the same
way with all 26 fabric pieces
and paper templates.^2

Step 5 Line up the hexagons as
desired, mixing and matching the
designs, and piece them together
using a ladder stitch.^3

STITCHING IN PLACE
Step 6 Starting with the pillowcase, pin
the patchwork hexagons in position, as
desired.^4 Stitch in place using a slip

that you can remove the basting
stitches and the paper templates.
After removing the stitches and paper,
use a slip stitch to secure the final side
of each hexagon.^5

Step 7 Repeat the previous steps to
sew and attach your row of hexagons
to the co-ordinating sheet. Finally,
press your work (see our top tips for
pressing on page 31) for a neat finish.
