GAMING’S MOST ATHLETIC UNDEAD RETURN

Dying Light 2

echland’s unshakable
undead sandbox was
the little ghoul that
could. Despite twoDead
Island games stinking
out the decomposing joint, the
studio’s parkour-based zombie sleeper
hit was so successful, it spawned
the sprawlingThe FollowingDLC. The
good news? The actual sequel is even
more ambitious.
Set 15 years after the original,
Dying Light 2’s all-new decaying city
has something of a plague-ridden
Parisian vibe. The game is also aiming
to deliver an experience defined by
choice and consequence.
The world around your free-running
survivor constantly changes
depending on your decisions. For

T

example, you can side with black
market scoundrels to limit the supply
of water and make a fat profit from it,
or choose to team up with a vigilante
force, who keep free water fountains
filled so that the people (including you)
can drink and heal.
One of the most pleasing things we
know about Dying Light 2 is that the
esteemed Chris Avellone, the famed
writer known for his work on RPGs from
Divinity: Original Sin 2 to Fallout: New
Vegas, is acting as narrative director
on the game. So we can expect Dying
Light 2’s story to be a good deal more
ambitious than the first game.

moves, and the team aiming to deliver

another ultra-ambitious
MMO. This time though,
your online explorer has to contend
with pesky pirates, not a peckish

with various tech troubles seeing the

Atlas rolls out onto Xbox Game
Preview soon, so let’s hope those PC
performance woes are cast aside
before then. If the Xbox version arrives
in ship-shape, there’s much to look
forward to. Grapeshot promises servers
will eventually be able to support
40,000 players, as crews from all over
the world build ships, hunt for buried
treasure, erect forts, and battle. With
procedurally generated maps to dive
for, legendary mystical beasts to track,
and an ‘Army of the Damned’ to
contend with, Sea Of Thieves could
soon have a swashbuckling rival. Q
