Your charity knits

We love seeing your fabulous charity knitting projects, and what a
brilliant selection of adorable knits e havethi h!

EGGCELLENT KNITS
I would like to let you know about my
latest knitting for charity project. My
local hospice in Weston-super-Mare, the
Weston Hospice, asked for knitters to knit
chicks and bunnies to cover a Cadbury’s
Creme Egg. To raise funds for the hospice,
I knitted a few and took them into work. I
soon received dozens of orders from work
colleagues and knitted around 70 chicks,
bunnies and even a few dinosaurs! Every
pattern has been designed dierently and
is unique. I also took in larger projects
that I had previously knitted, which
included unicorns and flower fairies and
have raised a total of £126 for the Weston
Hospice from all of these sales. I knitted
a further 21 chicks and bunnies for the
Hospice to sell, and took these together
with the cheque for £126. Everyone was
absolutely delighted! In fact the sta
there were so excited, they were already
selecting which ones they were going to
buy! I have previously knitted for Age UK
and the Alzheimer’s Society, and I hope
that my story will inspire other knitters to
knit for charity, I find it such a rewarding
experience all round!

HATS TO TAKE HOME
I have been knitting seriously since
mytwenties, which makes it 40 years!
tarted knitting Jean Greenhowe
carecrows. When I retired I decided
go to quilt classes and improve my
ills. I like to knit blankets for children
hospital, but also little hats for
mature babies too. I have included a
ture of four hats that I have recently
ade. These keep the babies warm and
e parents can take them home too.
