Earthy in look, this motif works equally well in vests and tunics as
it does in coasters and jewelry.
Double Crochet Three Together (dc3tog): Yo, insert hk into st
indicated, yo, draw up lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hk; rep from
twice in next st, yo, draw through last lps on hk.
Double Crochet Four Together (dc4tog): Yo, insert hk into st
indicated, yo, draw up lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hk; rep from
once in same st; rep from * twice in next st, yo, draw through last
lps on hk.
Ch 4, sl st to 1st ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 1, 8 sc in ring, sl st to sc, do not turn.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, dc3tog working 1st leg in 1st sc and next two legs in
next sc, ch 4, [dc4tog in prev sc and next sc, ch 4] 7 times, sl st to
top of dc3tog, do not turn—8 ch-sps.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, [3 sc, ch 4, 3 sc] in next ch-4 sp; rep from around,
sl st to 1st sc, do not turn—8 ch-sps.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc between 1st and last sc from last rnd, ch 3, sc in
