(^7) Lay out the spike strips onto a flat surface
and mark 0.5cm (¼in) down from the top.
Cut into each strip at roughly 8mm intervals
up to this mark to create the spikes.
(^8) To attach the grey hedgehog's spikes,
measure 2cm (¾in) from the eye and lay a
spike strip across the hedgehog at this point.
Glue in place, applying glue to the top of each
strip. Trim the strips to fit. Repeat until the
back is covered with spikes. Fill the gap at the
end with the spare trimmed away spikes.
(^9) To attach the brown hedgehog's spikes,
start at the bottom and stick each spike strip
one above the other to build up layers. Trim
the strips to fit the hedgehog's body (each
strip should be enough to make two layers
when cut to size). When you get to the top,
stick a strip over the top of the hedgehog’s
head to neaten off the edge.
(^10) Pinch the end of each ear shape to bring
it to a point, then sew onto the hedgehog
faces, using the photo as a guide. Position
the grey hedgehog's ears so they are in line
with the eyes and just below the spike strip.
Position the brown hedgehog's ears more to
the side of his face, and just above the eyes.
(^11) Sew the toadstool bottom shapes
together using an overstitch, stuff tightly and
sew closed. Sew the felt spots onto one of
the toadstool 1 top shapes and one of the
toadstool 2 top shapes, leaving a border of at
least 0.5cm (¼in) around the edges.
(^12) Position the toadstool bottom shapes
so that they are sandwiched between the
two front and back toadstool top shapes,
positioned in the centre. Sew the front and
back toadstool top shapes together, securing
the bottom shapes in place as you go. Stuff
the tops of the toadstools with toy filling,
then sew them firmly closed.
(^13) Starting from the outside edge and
working towards the middle, cut each rose
shape into a spiral using a sharp pair of
scissors. Try to cut the rose so that the spiral
is roughly 0.5cm (¼in) wide all the way
around. Starting from the outside end, roll up
the spiral of felt towards the middle to turn it
into a rose. Glue the end on the reverse.
(^14) Starting from the outside, roll up the
spiral of felt towards the middle to turn
it into a rose. Glue the end onto the
reverse of the rose and a pearl bead in the
centre. Position the toadstools, roses and
hedgehogs onto the wreath and glue in
place. Loop bright pink ribbon over the top
of the wreath to hang it, then add a bow.
