Compared to 2018, the ACC capacity baseline was measured with ACCESS/Reverse
CASA at 71, showing a 3% increase.
During the measured period, the average peak 1 - hour demand was 76 and the average
peak 3 - hour demand was 70.
Capacity gain was achieved by the following actions
More sectors were open and more will be open with the establishment of the New
ATC which is planned to be ready by 2023- 2024
Different sector configurations were used depending on traffic flow
Furthermore, there was an improvement between the civil and military relations in the
South – East part of the FIR
However, due to problematic geopolitical situation in neighbour countries and poor
communication, the regulation of the traffic was not as efficient as it could be.
In addition, Turkey's intervention in the management of the north airspace of Cyprus
has a negative impact on the effort to manage more aircraft per minute.
