Whatwethink:Modernarchitecturewith
shiny metallic exteriors and strong lines
often look very photogenic when
photographed with an extreme ND filter,
like Keith has done here. The building's
formidable appearance contrasts against
the delicate moving clouds, while the
shimmering surface complements the
black & white conversion by offering
strong tonal range. We're not sure how
much freedom Keith had at this location
but maybe a more abstract approach
wouldhaveaddedinterest?

RÊVERIE

Nikon D7100 with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens.
Exposure: 1/10sec at f/9 (ISO 200).

What we think: This is a lovely image –
Thierry's composition is simple and clear.
By giving the boat space in the frame he's
allowed those vibrant colours in the sky and
the reflections on the water plenty of space to
draw you in. We love how there's no
distinguishable line on the horizon, which
makes it seem like the boat is floating in the air.
While a perfectly still, mirror-like reflection
often works well for wider landscapes, here
the ripples in the foreground add a bit of extra
interest to what is otherwise a relatively
minimalistscene.GreatworkThierry!

Quick critique

  1. Good composition

  2. Bright and vibrant colours

  3. Ripples add interest
