vi) it is preferable to have separate steering and engine control hardware to
increase realism of the simulated exercise.
Instructor workstation
To include:
i) workstation with suitable display and compatible operating system with
installed simulator instructor control and monitoring software;
ii) the workstation should be capable of designing and executing exercises;
iii) in a multi own-ship set up it is preferable that the instructor’s workstation is
remote from the trainee’s own ship simulator.
Server/Network
To include:
i) server operation system of sufficient capability to store and run the required
software and data;
ii) simulator system software with suitable own-ship models, training areas and
hydrodynamic modeling data, which will provide full network control of
exercises used on the workstations.
