3 rd EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY VOLLEYBALL

CHAMPIONSHIP

In 2003, the 3rd European University Volleyball Championship

was organised by the Slovenian University Sports Association

in the City of Maribor. 12 men and 10 women teams took

part in the event which took place in the University Sports

Centre Leon Štukelj on the Student Campus. Since Lent, the

biggest cultural festival in the region took place in Maribor at

the same time, all the participants could also enjoy excellent

social and cultural programme. Amongst all the participants

from 10 European countries, the men’s team of the Univer-

sity of Montpellier I and women’s team of the CUS Roma

were the best. In the men finals, the students from France

defeated the Technical University of Eindhoven 3:0; and the

women team of the CUS Roma won against the Academy of

Physical Education of Warsaw 3:0 as well.
