EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY SPORTS ASSOCIATION From foundation on 1999-2009

The Annual General Assembly was held in Nottingham, Unit-
ed Kingdom. The Assembly chaired by Mr. Malcolm Brown
from United Kingdom adopted a series of amendments of
the Statutes. Among others the new position of a Treasurer
and a non-voting, paid Secretary General was installed; the
limitation for Executive Committee Members to 3 terms of 2
years was removed. The Assembly also elected Mr. Česlovas
Garbaliauskas from Lithuania as the new Executive Commit-
tee Member, replacing Mr. Matjaž Pečovnik, who resigned
due to his nomination as the new EUSA Chief Executive. Mrs.
Jelka Gošnik from Croatia and Mr. Mikka Suikki from Finland
were elected as the new EUSA Auditors. Russia and Turkey
joined the EUSA membership.

At the end of the year, the first printed edition of the EUSA
Magazine was published on the occasion of Association’s
5-year existence. In addition, twelve editions of the newslet-
ters informing both about EUSA events and other develop-
ments within the organisation were also sent to the e-mail
addresses of the subscribers.

Nottingham also hosted the Seminar “The Tracking of Young
Sportsmen and Women from School to University”. By means
of the Conference representatives from various European Na-
tions were afforded the opportunity of learning good prac-
tice in different countries. The introduction of such a good
practice will develop stable working partnerships between
school sport and University sport sectors.
