Based on the EUSA ranking on participation, results and
organisation of the European Universities Championships
2008, the Best University Award was presented to Mr. Al-
exander Bleer, the Rector of the Russian State University for
Physical Education, Sports and Tourism. Students Peter Baars
and Pepijn Lochtenberg from the University of Vrije, The
Netherlands received the Fair Play Award for their attitude
and admirable sportsmen spirit shown on the 5th European
Universities Beach-Volleyball Championship 2008. Mr. Roch
Campana, former FISU Secretary General and President of
the Belgium University Sports Federation was awarded the
EUSA Order of Merit for his life achievement in the field of
the International University Sport.
The 10th EUSA General Assembly took place in Paris, France.
The Assembly was chaired by Mr. Stefan Bergh from Sweden.
The delegates accepted Georgia and Azerbaijan as the new-
est EUSA Members, approved the Executive Committee and
Student Commission final reports, approved the budgets and
the activity plan for 2009 and agreed on the modification to
the statutes. Mr. Oleg Matytsin from Russia was elected as
the new EUSA Vice-President while Mr. Aitor Canibe Sanchez
from Spain and Mr. Otmar Kugovnik from Slovenia were
elected as the new EUSA Executive Committee Members.
