record number of 15 European Universities Champion-
ships was organised in 2009, a year when EUSA celebrat-
ed its 10th anniversary. Championships in Golf, Taekwondo
and Bridge were organised for the first time. The partici-
pation number set a new record as 3075 student athletes
and officials, representing 442 universities from 32 countries,
participated in the events. Beside the European Universities
Championships, the EUSA Cup in Aesthetic Group Gymnas-
tics was organized in Poland and the EUSA Patronage was
assigned to the SELL Games in Latvia and Friendship Games
in Israel.The 6th EUSA Symposium was held successfully in October in
Zadar, Croatia. More than 50 participants attended the event
organised by the Croatian University Sports Federation, the
University of Zadar and the Zadar University Sports Associa-
tion. The participants discussed the main topics “Origins of
Fair Play and its Meanings in Modern Sport and Society”.
During the event, the EUSA Student Commission met on reg-
ular meeting and among others awarded Ms. Daria Timoshen-
ko from Russia as the winner of the Photo Competition
The EUSA Convention was organised in November in Lju-
bljana, Slovenia. After giving all the necessary information
and support to the organisers of the European Universities
Championships, the new information system that will be in
use from 2010 on was presented. The project included the
new EUSA Website, Internal Area, EUSA Community, On-line
registration to the EUSA Events and to the Volunteer Pro-
gram and Event management. The project, supported by the
International University Sports Federation, proved to be a big
improvement in the management of the association and its
events and was positively welcomed by all the 45 participants
that attended the event.2009
