5 th EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY BASKETBALL
CHAMPIONSHIP

Yet another champion hosted the next edition of the Eu-
ropean University Basketball Championship. It was the City
of Gorzow Wielkopolski who organised the 5th European
University Basketball Championship from June 28 to July 2,

2005. 8 women and 12 men university teams came to Po-
      land to fight for the titles of the champions, amongst them
      for the first time in the history also students from Turkey.
      There were a lot of young people involved in the organisa-
      tion of the event; the social programme that was organised
      in the evenings was especially appreciated by the students.
      The matches were played on a very good level. The women’s
      finals between the University of Ljubljana and the host team
      from State Vocational School of Higher Education Gorzow
      Wielkopolski was the remake of the previous year. Slovenians
      successfully defended the title, winning 61:52. In the men’s
      finals the debutant team from Turkey; the Bahcesehir Uni-
      versity won against University of Niš 70:51.
