1st EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The 1st European University Football Championship was held

in Rome, Italy between August 3 and 10, 2003. Altogether

14 men and women teams from 10 European countries par-

ticipated in the event, organised by the CUS Roma and Ital-

ian University Sports Federation. The tournament in the Ital-

ian capital was organised on a very high level, especially the

teams from Germany were very well prepared, which resulted

in their winning of titles in both men and women categories.

In the men finals, the University of Würzburg defeated the

University of Nürnberg 1:0. In the women finals, students

from the University of Barcelona lost 3:5 against their Ger-

man colleagues from Friedrich-Alexander University.
