Thepartycomesacross 1 d 4 + 1 su-monsters(seeappendix
D).Thesu-monstersapproachcautiously,feigningcuriosity.If
allowedtogetclose,eachsu-monsterusesitsPsychicCrushin
thehopeofstunninganadventurerbeforeattackingwithits
biteandclaws.Thesu-monstersfleetotheirtreetoplairsifthe
fightgoesagainstthem.
Thesu-monstersmighthavetreasurestashedinoneof
theirtrees;rollonceontheTreasureDropstabletodetermine
what,ifanything,asearchofthetreeyields.
SwarmsofBats
Ruins,hollowtrees,andhiddencavernscanallbehomesto
bats.Thisencounterseesthecharactersdisturb 1 d 4 swarms
ofbatsthathavebecomeunnaturallyaggressivefromfeeding
onundeadflesh.
SwarmsofInsects
Thecharactersarebesetby 1 d 4 swarmsofinsects
(centipedes).Attheendoftheencounter,anycharacter
damagedbyaswarmmustsucceedonaDC 11 Constitution
savingthroworbecomeinfectedwithshiveringsickness(see
“Diseases,”page 40 ).
SwarmsofQuippers
Thisencounterindicatesthat 1 d 4 swarmsofquipperscatch
sightoftheparty,butthesecreaturesaredangerousonlyifthe
charactersareinthewaterwiththem.Creaturesontheshore
orincanoesaresafe,butinbothcases,theswarmsfollowthe
charactersuntilthey’reoutofsightandawayfromthewater.
TabaxiHunter
AnycharacterwithapassiveWisdom(Perception)scoreof 15
orhigherspotsatabaxihunter(seeappendixD)watching
thepartyfromavantagepoint 300 feetaway.Ifthetabaxi
goesunseen,itmightshadowthecharactersforawhile,then
suddenlyappeartohelpthemfightoffatoughencounteror
warnthemofdangerinthevicinity.

Tiger
Atigerliesinwaitforthepartybutisnoticedbyanycharacter
whosepassiveWisdom(Perception)scoreis 16 orhigher.If
notdetected,thetigerpouncesatacharacterwhocomes
within 40 feetofit.Thetigerretreatsifitlosesmorethanhalf
itshitpoints.
Tri-flowerFrond
Ifthisencounteroccurswhilethecharactersaretraveling,
theywanderintoapatchof 1 d 4 tri-flowerfronds(see
appendixD)whichseemlikeordinaryplantsuntiltheystrike.
Iftheencounteroccurswhilethepartyiscamped,theplants
trytoinfiltratethecamp,anesthetizecharacterswiththeir
orangeblossoms,thenslaythemwiththeiryellowandred
blossoms.

Ahungrytrollcomescrashingoutofthejungle,intenton
eatingthecharacters.
