Tamron 35-150mm f/2.8

Unusual but versatile lens
for full-frame cameras

C

oming soon to Canon EF
and Nikon F mounts is
an optic that offers “six
prime lenses in one”. Tamron’s
35-150mm f/2.8-4 Di VC OSD is
a compact portrait zoom that the
manufacturer claims is a match
for high-quality primes.
One of three Tamron full-frame
lenses announced in February, the
35-150mm does offer an unusual
focal range, but it’s worth noting
that its fastness drops off, to f/3.5
at 85mm and f/4 at 150mm. The
35-150mm has been designed
primarily for wedding shooters,
as it straddles the focal range
of the essential 24-70mm and
70-200mm zooms.
